Animal Control & Pet Regulations

Animal Control or Troublesome Animals

For animal control or nuisance animal issues within the Town of Albion, please contact the Orleans County Dispatcher at (585) 589-5527.

Leash Law & Dog Restrictions

Dog owners within the Town of Albion must ensure their pets do not:

  • Run at large unless restrained by a leash or accompanied by a responsible person.
  • Engage in habitual howling, barking, crying, or whining that disturbs others.
  • Damage property, including lawns, gardens, or flowers, that do not belong to the owner.

Dog Licenses

All dogs over 4 months of age must be licensed through the Town Clerk’s Office.

  • Required: Proof of current rabies vaccination.
  • Fees:
    • $10.00 for spayed/neutered dogs (spay/neuter certificate may be required).
    • $20.00 for unspayed/unneutered dogs.

Rabies Clinic & Proof of Vaccinations

If your pet was vaccinated at a Free Rabies Clinic, contact the Orleans County Health Department at (585) 589-3278.

Trash & Recycling

Refuse, Trash, & Garbage Collection

County-wide refuse and recycling are handled by Modern Disposal Waste Services.

  • Contact them at (800) 662-0012 (Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM).

Recycle Bins

Green recycling bins are available for $7 each at the County Real Property Office in Albion (Courthouse Square).

  • If you built a new home, you are entitled to one free bin.

Marriage Licenses

Marriage licenses are available at the Town Clerk’s Office.

  • For up-to-date details on obtaining a marriage license in New York State, contact the Clerk’s Office.

Certified Copies of Marriage Records

A certified copy of a marriage license issued in Albion can be obtained:

  • From the Town Clerk for $10.
  • From the New York State Department of Health for $30.

Birth Records (Arnold Gregory Hospital)

Birth records for Arnold Gregory Hospital are not available at the Town of Albion Office.

Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV)

Parking Permits for Persons with Disabilities

To obtain a New York State disabilities parking permit:

  1. Have your doctor complete an MV-664 form (Download here).
  2. Bring the form to your Town Clerk’s Office with your Driver’s License or Non-Driver ID.
    Note: A prescription from a doctor is not a substitute for the MV-664 form.
